Put Movie/ TV/ Literature/ News/ Print/ Technology questions to the group as a whole. This is a good activity to introduce the concept of Media Literacy
You will be asking the group to answer 12 questions, and that would measure their media knowledge. It is not a competition. The group will aim to help each other score as high as possible. Perhaps offer 1 point for each correct answer and ask 12 questions across the various categories. eg. Movie, TV, Technology, Print and Music questions (find sample questions in the attached pdf).
On a flip chart draw twelve boxes on a vertical line. Draw a horizontal line separating the top box from the rest.
Work upwards by ticking a box for each correct answer. Set a time of ten minutes. Once the group has crossed the winning line of being media savvy, you can explain that such knowledge is only information about media and is NOT MEDIA LITERACY.
